Course Description

Korean Level 2 Bootcamp Level 2 is designed for learners who have completed the beginner level or already possess basic Korean language knowledge and wish to strengthen their skills further in preparation for the examination. The course expands vocabulary, grammar, and language use across everyday and simple social situations. Through integrated practice in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, students develop greater fluency, comprehension, and confidence in expressing themselves in Korean. The course aims to reinforce communicative competence in alignment with the TOPIK Level 2 proficiency standard.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

● Speak and write about various topics such as daily life, school life, hobbies, and transportation.
● Understand and apply basic grammatical structures accurately.
● Read short texts and identify the main ideas and key information.
● Acquire TOPIK Level 2 vocabulary and expressions to communicate effectively in basic social situations.

3. Weekly live online sessions with a teacher based in Korea
4. Approximately 75 to 90 minutes of self-contained online lectures each week, with no need for additional textbooks or external materials
5. Real-time academic support through HANI, an AI chatbot assistant available to answer student questions throughout the course
6. One 3-hour live mock examination to be conducted onsite at the Enderun Coworking, Estancia

Attendance Policy

As noted, attendance is mandatory, and excuses must follow university policies. As one cannot participate when absent, students should also be aware that missing a class will impact their participation score

Academic Policy

Academic dishonesty includes but not limited to:’

● Cheating during examinations
● Obtaining and using information for assignments and examinations through fraudulent means
● False representation of others’ effort as one’s own.

Examples of academic dishonesty are copying from others during examinations, copying material from other students’ work and submitting the same as one’s own, and creating fictitious interview materials for assignments or reports.

Plagiarism

Woosong University considers plagiarism as a serious breach of professional ethics.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. Penalties can be as severe as expulsion from the university. To avoid plagiarism, do your own work or cite the work of others appropriate. Per Woosong policy and as stated in the Student Handbook:

● The first instance of plagiarism will result in a “0” for the assignment in question and a report will be filed.
● The second instance of plagiarism will result in a failing grade for the entire course.
● The third instance will result in administrative action, which could include expulsion from the school.
● The instructor will report each instance of any violation of policy and rules to the disciplinary officer.

Week 1 Daily Life 1
Introduction to essential expressions used in everyday routines and activities. Learners will practice forming simple sentences to describe common daily actions such as waking up, studying, and working.
Week 2 Daily Life 2
Expansion of daily life vocabulary and expressions. Learners will construct longer sentences and begin linking ideas to describe routines more clearly and naturally.
Week 3 Daily Life 3
Development of speaking and writing skills to describe daily habits and simple past experiences. Learners will practice expressing frequency and sequencing of activities.
Week 4: Weather & Seasons 1
Introduction to basic vocabulary related to weather conditions and seasons. Learners will practice identifying and describing common weather patterns.
Week 5: Weather & Seasons 2
Expansion of weather-related expressions, including describing conditions and discussing seasonal activities. Learners will form complete sentences to express opinions about weather and preferences.
Week 6: Hobbies 1
Introduction to vocabulary and expressions related to hobbies and interests. Learners will describe common leisure activities using basic sentence structures.
Week 7: Hobbies 2
Development of conversational skills to discuss personal interests and free-time activities. Learners will express likes, dislikes, and preferences using appropriate grammar patterns.
Week 8 Midterm Exam
Assessment of learners’ progress covering daily life expressions, weather, hobbies, grammar structures, and communicative skills developed in the first half of the course.
Week 9: Food & Taste 1
Introduction to food-related vocabulary and basic taste expressions. Learners will practice identifying foods and describing simple taste characteristics.
Week 10: Food & Taste 2
Expansion of expressions to describe food preferences and dining experiences. Learners will engage in practical dialogues such as ordering food and sharing opinions.
Week 11: Transportation 1
Introduction to basic vocabulary and expressions related to transportation and directions. Learners will practice asking and answering simple questions about getting around.
Week 12: Transportation 2
Development of language skills to describe routes, travel methods, and schedules. Learners will construct more detailed and functional travel-related sentences.
Week 13: Travel 1
Introduction to expressions used in travel planning, including destinations, activities, and simple itineraries. Learners will discuss future travel plans.
Week 14: Travel 2
Expansion of travel-related communication, focusing on describing past travel experiences and activities. Learners will practice storytelling using basic past tense structures.
Week 15: Final Exam
Comprehensive assessment of learners’ proficiency in vocabulary, grammar, and communicative skills covered throughout the course.

Program Faculty

Jungsup Kim

Professor Jungsup Kim is widely regarded as one of Korea’s foremost experts in Korean language education, with over three decades of distinguished experience in scholarship, academic leadership, and international engagement. He previously served as Director of the International Education Institute at Kyung Hee University and as President of the International Association for Korean Language Education (IAKLE). As principal researcher for the International Standard Curriculum for Korean, he helped shape the global standards that continue to guide Korean language education worldwide.

His contributions have been recognized by the Korean government through the Order of Education Service (Jade Class) and several ministerial citations. Professor Kim continues to play an influential role in Korean language diplomacy and cultural exchange as Professor Emeritus at Kyung Hee University and currently leads the iDegree Korean Language Program at Woosong University.
