Course Description

Mandarin has very quickly become the most widely spoken language in the world, with more than 1.7 Billion people in the world using Mandarin as their medium of instruction. With Asian companies taking over tech, being fluent in Mandarin is definitely one of the most important skills to have under your belt. The Study by Enderun focuses on syntax, pronunciation, and verbal nuances of the language, making sure that students are able to communicate with native Mandarin speakers. Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, students are expected to:

1. Recognize patterns in tonality and syntax;
2. Identify a wide array of vocabulary words in Mandarin;
3. Compose their own phrases and sentences as applicable to everyday situations;
4. Execute the various tones and accents spontaneously, depending on the given situation.

Is there an assessment before the course intake?
The Language Aptitude Test measures how well the test taker is able to acquire and learn a new language.
How long is the program duration?
There are 20 school days in a month. For 1:1 classes, the student may opt to customize his/her schedule based on their availability.
How many students are there in a class?
We accommodate a maximum of 12 students per class.

Program Faculty

Kendrick Chua

Kendrick Chua is an alumnus of De La Salle University Manila with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce Major in Marketing Management. He was the 2005 Gawad Mag-aaral for Culture and Arts. As a Chinese-Filipino, he became a Chinese Language Instructor, serving as consultant for several organizations that require expertise in language interpretation, translation, and character encoding. He also participated in the Filipino-Chinese community as a former columnist of China Business, Director for Research of Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran, a TV Host for CHInoy TV, and a faculty member of the Ateneo Confucius Institute. On top of his work as Digital Editor and owner of the website Binondo Economics, he is currently an instructor at The Study by Enderun Colleges. He has been in the academe for about 10 years now.

Kendrick is involved in a number of high scale language related projects. He is accredited by the American Academy of Financial Management and the Registered Financial Planner Institute of the Philippines, which allows him to work as a financial advisor. To date, Kendrick has taught the Chinese language to over 500 students and his rating and evaluation has never been lower than 95%.

Supervision of the program
The Study by Enderun Colleges is designating an Education Executive as principal contact for the engagement. In return, she will work closely with the Academic team and the student for arrangement of classes prior to the agreed start date. For questions and clarifications, the student may reach us via email at info@thestudyph.com.

Course Details
The student is encouraged to take the Language Aptitude Test that helps to predict the degree of success a person will have with a new language. The result will be forwarded by the Academic team to the student together with the preparatory guidelines before the agreed start date.

Class credits must be consumed within three (3) months from the agreed start date. Class credits will expire if they are not used within the given period of time. Extension may only be provided if a national declaration from the Philippine government or a sudden cancellation from the instructor due to an unforeseen circumstance.

Students are only allowed to be given make up classes for 1 on 1 lessons, provided that they notify The Study at least one (1) day before the class that they are going to miss. If the student does not send a notification through sms / email about an absence or tardiness, it is assumed that the student is attending class on time. For late notification and absences, the class is automatically marked consumed and will not be valid for arrangement of make-up classes. A confirmation reply from The Study will be sent for the request to be valid. You may reach the Foreign Languages Section Head on Viber through +639176101717 for cancellations / changes in your schedule. Should any new cancellations or requests for classes from 7:00 AM- 10:00 AM be made, the student must notify The Study by 7:00 PM the day before the class.

Students missing class for at least one (1) week will be marked as AWOL (absence without leave). Class credits will be put on hold until the expiration date of credits given within a period of time.

Re-enrolment should be discussed with the Education Executive at least three (3) days before the next cycle or start date. The student should also keep track of his/her program end date.

Any changes with the current program must be communicated before the original enrolment expires.

Refund Policy
Payments already made under this engagement are non-refundable. The student may opt for an upgrade should he/she decide to change the language program he/she is currently enrolled for. The remaining amount may be applied to any other language program engagement. The number of hours may change depending on the new program chosen by the student
